Launch Notes

Release Status

States of Power left the unreleased Steam storefront on 26 August 2026. It is a paid Windows title from solo developer Sarunas — simulation and strategy tags, single-player plus online PvP, family sharing, adjustable difficulty, a mouse-only option, and save-anytime. There is no Mac or Linux build announced.

This page records what is publicly confirmed at launch. It does not invent patch numbers. When Sarunas publishes a numbered changelog, that text will land here and on the Updates Hub. Until then, treat Steam news and the official Discord as the live feed.

Price and Introductory Offer

At launch the US store showed $11.99 with a 15 percent introductory discount to $10.19, marked to end 5 September 2026. Regional storefronts use local currency — the Chinese storefront has used a yuan list, for example — so always read the widget on the Steam page rather than a wiki screenshot.

The game is not free-to-play and does not use a battle-pass shop. A separate free demo remains listed (Steam app 4400250) if you want the France board before spending. Walkthrough: Demo and France.

Steam Reviews at Launch

In the days around release the store aggregated Very Positive user reviews — 92 percent of 52 reviews. That is a small sample. It is still the official Steam label, not a press score. For longer write-ups see our Review and the Community Reviews roundup.

Common themes in those early reviews and in pre-launch demo threads:

  • Session-length campaigns are the point, not a compromise.
  • The built-in Scenario Editor is the surprise feature people keep mentioning.
  • France in the demo is a harsh teacher: Germany and Italy will dual-declare if you dawdle.
  • The on-ramp improved after testers said the first tutorial taught nothing.

Steam also discloses that in-game translations used AI tools. This wiki’s languages are separate community writing, not the game’s UI pack.

What You Get on Day One

Direct command of divisions — infantry, tanks, artillery, aircraft, and more — with a crossed strengths-and-weaknesses combat model. Province development (factories, labs, ports, infrastructure). An economy of construction, goods, military supplies, manpower, loans, and a world market. A technology path from early-war infantry weapons toward the atomic bomb. Four ideologies (Democratic, Authoritarian, Communist, Fascist) with reform or civil war. A Scenario Editor that publishes into an in-game browser. Multiplayer diplomacy with global and private messages.

Accessibility and comfort flags on the store include camera comfort, custom volume, playable without timed input, and mouse-only play. Details live on Controls and System Requirements.

Supported interface languages at launch: English, Lithuanian, Polish, Simplified Chinese, French, Spanish (Spain), Ukrainian, Turkish, and German. Audio is not a full voice-over package.

Platforms and Specs (Official)

Minimum: Windows 10 64-bit, Intel i3 / Ryzen 3, 4 GB RAM, integrated graphics, 2 GB disk, broadband for multiplayer. Recommended: Intel i5 / Ryzen 5, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1060-class GPU. If the map stutters, use Optimization before you assume the install is broken.

Known Player Friction (Not a Patch List)

These are community reports, not official “fixed in 1.0.1” notes:

  • Demo-only France confused buyers who had not opened the full SKU.
  • Normal difficulty as France versus Germany and Italy feels brutal if goods factories are late.
  • You must declare war before attack orders work.
  • Morale (green) is not hit points; empty morale means retreat.

If your bug is a crash, a corrupt save, or a desync, skip the rumour mill and mail statesofpower.io@gmail.com with OS, GPU, and reproduction steps, or post on the Steam hub. The Official Links page collects Discord, YouTube (@sarunasdev), and store URLs.

How This Wiki Will Track Patches

  1. Confirm a note on Steam news or a developer post.
  2. Summarise it here in plain language (balance, editor, netcode).
  3. Grep the rest of the wiki so claims about price, co-op, and platforms stay aligned with the Database Hub.

Do not assume a fixed bi-weekly patch clock. Sarunas is a solo developer. The honest cadence is “when a build is ready,” announced on Steam and Discord.

New players: Getting Started, then Diplomacy Guide. Returning demo veterans: pick a major from Major Powers Strategy or stay chaotic with the Scenario Editor. Competitive groups: Multiplayer Guide.

Bookmark this article and the hub. When the first numbered patch exists, the heading above “Release Status” will gain a version table. Until that table has a real row, the launch SKU is the current version.
